Today I had the pleasure of speaking to 33 groups of students at McFadden School of Excellence about my career. While most were captivated with my jewelry, leather work, keys and description of the costuming process, I did encounter a few students that I will remember for a long time, including: 1) The three little girls who interrupted their groups presentation to ask me for thorough instructions for applying and removing false eyelashes. Concerns ranged from uncertainty that they could apply them perfectly, how you remove them and if it feels like pulling a band-aid off when you do take them off. 2) The little girl who, upon seeing the large ruby on my ring finger, asked if I was married. Awkwardly, I replied that I had been previously. Her response was to drop her jaw and cover her mouth like it was scandalous that I am divorced. However, she then told the whole group that mom and dad have never been married but her dad follows her mom around kissing her all the time. Her mom says she aint marrying him(!!) because she likes to go with other people. 3) The little girl, a first grader, who raised her hand during my presentation and shared that she is doesnt know what to do with her life anymore as she is questioning her previous plan to be a veterinarian, as she doesnt like ALL animals.
