Today I had to make the decision to let my sweet Marti girl go to the bridge. Marti was my very first foster dog who led the way for many more to cross my threshold, some, like her,stayed in their forever home here, many left for their forever homes elsewhere. GFs Marti ran 143 races (winning 17) and retired in 2004 and was sent to a breeding farm in Kansas. I adopted her in 2007. She was my alpha female and kept the pack in line up until Tuesday evening when she became lame in one of her rear legs; no inclination that anything was wrong or hurting her up until then. She was in alot of pain and could not carry her little self on the other 3 legs. It was discovered this morning that she had bone cancer and I opted to say goodbye to my little 14 yr. old girl. I am so totally torn up .... losing two seniors within a 4 month period.....she is now pain free and running with the wind. Win that last race my loving friend. R.I.P. 3/16/00 - 6/5/14
