Today I have been both proud of one entertainment entity and mad/upset with another. I was happy to hear about the finalists for The Walter Payton Man of The Year Award given to the NFL player who best exemplifies giving back to charities and their community as well as excels on the field. Walter Payton was a wonderful man and an amazing player and usually around this time of year there is more attention given to his legacy and how he died from PSC. I got upset watching the commercial for this weeks Criminal Minds on CBS. They show someone killing people and the one link these victims have is they are all organ donors. I am just assuming here, but it is prolly someone killing people hoping one of them is a match for someone they love or to help them move up on the list. It pisses me off because I feel people out here on the West Coast already have what I call the Hollywood Mentality in that either from watching TV or movies they have this idea that first responders or doctors are going to let them die, if they are an organ donor, to save someone else. There are already so many ignorant people and adding to their unwarranted fears is asinine. I have a group that I belong to where this was brought up last week and I talked about this very thing and why we should have an opt-out system rather than an opt-in system and the uphill battle that we already face. I think it is very irresponsible for these networks etc. to giving these irrational fears any kind of attention that helps keep them going! Just Sayin! AB
