Today I honour my father John Horace Bayliss Frederick who made his entry into this world 90 years ago in PEMBROKE TOBAGO to John Sardona and Constance. I am the last of his children Ronald Janice Mike Bay Lissa Jaclin Frederick Arlette Harrison JB and then me. My immediate thoughts are that six years ago a doctor told me and my mother and brother to get his affairs in order because he had had a heart attack and he had lived to a ripe old age....smh...anyway with the intervention of Jb and Wayne Murrays excellent post operative care, one triple bypass and six years later my father is 90 and as sharp as ever. Walking a bit slower but not bent he would say, with eyes that should be doing better, but they tell me my body parts old even if meh mind young my father is a unique treasure. His story is one worth telling. He still has the capacity to raise my blood pressure, he is still promising that he has one good cuff left with my name on it, and he still has that witty sense of humour that makes us all laugh out loud to this day. He taught me that I must be willing to stand on principle rno matter what and to appreciate that my actions will dictate who I am in this world. I remember fretting ten years ago about hanging up my call certificate and degree in my office. He looked at me and said, sweetheart it is not the paper, it is what you do, having received the paper that matters. What he says when we disagree- I AM A BENT BICYCLE WHEEL, LEAVE ME LET ME WOBBLE Best advice I ever got from him- DONT BE AFRAID TO MAKE YOUR OWN MISTAKES. Words he told me that I live by TO THINE OWN SELF BE TRUE. And something he always says that make my mother smile...I AM MASTER OF THIS HOUSE...WHATEVER MY WIFE SAYS SHALL BE DONE.... Happy NINETIETH Birthday Daddy. You are a true GIANT and a LEGEND and I love you.
