Today I introduced a resolution recognizing the 40-year anniversary of the legislation creating the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. NREL is the nations premier research laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency. NREL’s scientists have improved the efficiency of wind turbines, cut the cost of solar cells and made huge strides in the development of biomass. Through their work, we have reduced our dependence on foreign oil, improved energy efficiency, and helped companies bring new cutting edge technologies to market. I cant wait to see what NREL accomplishes in the next 40 years!
