Today I learned a lot about life at a veterinary Hospital and about myself. I will take both Vet asst courses, I really know less than even I thought, and I thought I knew very little. Watching the Doctor perform surgery on my girls was amazing, not just the skill involved, but the amount of care shown. I learned how to roll a vein, a lot more simple than I would have thought. But I also learned that even though I lift my babies with a whole lot of care, I sometimes do it wrong. experience is obviously the best teacher, but these folks have a vast array of knowledge and skills. I learned today that they work at the speed of light, appointments come first, but the amount of walk-ins is staggering. You all know I am a nice guy, but not overly fond of the human race. Today was so nice to see a side of humanity that is nothing short of inspiring. there are a lot of people out there that would give their last dime for their babies. Maybe my arrogance blinded me to the fact I am not the only one who hurts when my babies hurt, or maybe I just never gave it enough thought. I am not the only man in the world that cries when he loses a baby. I am not a rare thing. It matters not whether it is a GSD, a cat or a guinea pig, it breaks my heart when they leave this world. It breaks my heart to see the pain on the faces of their mom or dad. I can do this type of work, but I do not know how well. It takes a phenomenal amount of resolve, knowledge, care, compassion and courage to do what they do. To all of you who absolutely adore and worship what we call pets, but know are family, all I can say is Thank you.
