Today, I led my Kenyan delegation for a meeting with the 20,000 strong Hyderabad Chapter of the Federation of Indian Export Organizations. The Indian businessmen through their regional Chairman Mr. DSouza and Vice-Chairman Mr. Rajesh Rajvan thanked us for the critical role in enhancing the democratization process not only in Kenya but also in the African Continent as a whole, noting that wider democratic space is imperative in creating an enabling environment for foreign capital inflow. The Indian Apex business body promised to hold an INDIA EXPO Trade Fair in Nairobi from 27th-29th March 2015 to showcase to the Kenyan market Indias integral areas of comparative advantage in bi-lateral trade and investment. In my address to the delegates, I urged the Indian business community to take advantage of Kenyas potential in the fields of manufacturing, infrastructure, mineral exploitation, manpower development, energy and agricultural produce value-addition to enhance the trade volumes between the two countries from the current 3 Billion Dollars annual turnover to greater heights and also strive to balance the trade equation between the two countries. I also urged them to take advantage of the Lapset project and use Lamu as a port of entry to the wider African market. Present were Governors Salim Mvurya, John Mrutu, Cornell Rasanga and Mr. Eliud Owalo.
