Today I lost a friend, companion and family member. I had - TopicsExpress

Today I lost a friend, companion and family member. I had purchased Midnight (La Negra) in 2006. She was pushy, cantankerous, definitely not what most would call the perfect horse. The only papers on here was the notebook paper the previous owner penciled out the bill of sale on. She was a rough riding appendix that many times would decide it was time to go home before I thought it was time. But, she was also very caring towards anyone on her back, would be called kid broke, bomb proof and many other things because of her true demeanor. In her lifetime she had been a pace horse on the racetrack, trained in Escaramuza and trail riding. And that was before I got her. She spent her time with me riding down the road to pay bills, gathering cattle, sorting cattle, cutting cattle, pleasure riding and stood as my instruction horse during riding and horsemanship lessons. It was to her credit that a young 8 year old boy who had a bad riding accident became re-acquainted with and lost his fear of horses. She was one of the first two horses to be here at the Rocking B Ranch, and had recently been enjoying her years in retirement after finding out she had what is called moon blindness. Rest in Peace ol girl, Ill meet up with you again one day. - John Baird Midnight (La Negra) - 1995 - 2014.
