Today I made someone cry. Almost every day for the last month, the same two young Chinese girls have asked me to take a picture with them. I have taken so many pictures with so many people that I roll my eyes just at the thought of taking any photos with anyone. The first few times these young ladies asked me for a photo I didnt mind at all. Eventually, after about two weeks of daily photo shoots with them, sometimes several times a day, I couldnt take it anymore. I tried taking different routes to get around, frowning in every photo, and I even told them I would charge a fee of ¥25 per photo. They immediately reached into their pockets and pulled out cash. I told them to keep their money and just took the picture as I always did, wearing a big frown on my face. I even added in a thumbs-down in hopes to deter them from ever asking for another picture. Today they found me again, like always, and as usual came up and asked for a picture. I said absolutely no pictures today. I told them that I am not a tourist attraction and that the 200+ photos of me that theyve already taken will have to suffice. As I walked away, I turned to see one of them in tears, being consoled by her friend. I hate to admit it, but I didnt feel sorry for her. She has more pictures of me than my parents do! I dont know, what would you have done?
