Today I met the Shuey family.. Not Luke himself.. (Luke Shuey from west coast eagles.) ... I know its not bulldog related.. But its an important story I wanted to share with you all. Four years ago a local girl by the name of Mel Shuey lost her life crossing a road here in eltham.. The flowers that surrounded her accident location at the time reminded me of lady Dianas passing, but the thing that stuck out the most was a packet of cigarettes that were taped around a tree with a note that read I hope these were worth dying for love your brother Luke. Mel had left a party to go and buy herself some cigarettes. As she crossed the road a speeding motorbike clipped her and killed her instantly. Luke was drafted to west coast the Oct before.. Mel died in Feb (following) just before her Year 12 school year. Luke moved to WA to begin his career.. Mel was Lukes only sibling.. he never got to show his sister what he looked like playing in a west coast eagles guernsey.. The story touched my heart again because 4 years on and the family are still grieving.. And are in the process of suing the motor bike rider for a heavier punishment.. Ill be watching Luke Shuey more carefully from now on.. His story has really inspired me.. he continued with his career even though his family had lost one of the greatest things you could ever have.. A sister/a child xxx
