Today I presented a proclamation to the Lakota Runners, a Native American running team from South Dakota who were scheduled to run in the 2012 marathon and instead assisted my district following the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. The Oglala Lakota tribe resides on the Pine Ridge Reservation, one of the poorest places in the Western Hemisphere. On behalf of the State Assembly and the constituents I represent, I thank them for their generosity and assistance in the days following Sandy and wish them luck in Sundays Marathon.
