Today I ran...and I cried... Today I ran my first 5K in a LONG time. I ran for a little girl, Avery, whos battling a rare brain cancer and working on her long road to recover. Around mile 1 I started to sob. I cried for a mother and a father and a big sister who are all so brave and so strong. Stronger than this tough Marine and Police Officer cant even fathom being on his best day. I thought about my babies, and how blessed we have been that they are healthy and I hope I never have to find out what its like to be that strong. Our theme at Team Beachbody this year just so happens to be NEVER GIVE UP! I thought it only fitting that I run today for Avery and the Heino family in my Never Give Up tshirt. I did what we all must do from time to time. Through the discomfort of aching legs and a cramping side I sucked it up, I NEVER GAVE UP, and ran the entire 5K. I heard Tony Horton in my head telling me to Do your best and forget the rest! I heard Shaun T telling me to Dig Deeper!. I heard Chalene Johnson telling me Youre NOT tired! In my head I heard Autumn Calabrese telling me Give me all you got, and then give me a little bit more! I told myself I would finish in under 33 minutes. I thought of Avery and crossed the finish line at 32:01 with a sprint at the end. If she can battle cancer you can finish strong I thought. Thank you little princess for reminding me what never giving up means to me. Keep fighting brave Avery and stay strong all the folks who love this little girl! Im honored to be counted among you!
