Today I ran/ walk the Clontarf 5 mile run. Just over 3 months ago a colleague and friend of Brian, who was only in his very early 40s, passed away from a heart attack. He left 3 children, wife, mother, father, extended family and many many friends behind him. Absolutely tragic. Today before Sarah Casey and I got to the race we stopped at Stillorgan to pop into a shop. As we came back out we were stopped by a man asking were we collecting. I told him the story about Gerry and he asked me could he donate as the heart foundation was a charity close to his heart. He gave me €20 and wished me they best. I was blown away. The kindness of strangers......it puts the biggest smile on your face. I had a ball today, met some really lovely people who helped me along my way and big thanks to Ms Casey who pushed me along the way to run more and basically not give up. 5 miles in the grand scheme is nothing but I have never done anything like it before and kinda proud of myself. Super day!
