Today I received a Christmas card from my friend Les Bower. This - TopicsExpress

Today I received a Christmas card from my friend Les Bower. This is the way I remember him when we played football together at Murray State. Today he continues waiting to hear about his destiny. Les has been incarcerated for over 30 years. Here is a portion of the letter he sent. If you think your life is tough, consider the life he is living --- along with his family. ...in the middle of all this the TCCA kicks me out and they give me another execution date --- my sixth. In 2008, my last date, I pretty well knew there were unresolved issues to be addressed, so the stay was not unexpected. This time I still feel there are unresolved issues, but Im not quite so sure the courts want to take them up. One of the problems with a 30 year old case is that the courts seem to feel that its your fault that its taken this long, not that the courts have sat on the case for so long at each step. The Federal District Judge waited 8 years just to decide that he would hold a hearing, and then we waited another 2 years for his decision. Anyway, all this is to say, Im preparing myself that this one will be my last. Im not worried. On the other hand you have the prospect of being executed, and on the other hand you have the possibility of setting around solitary confinement for another decade or more. One person once said about the death penalty in Texas as, ...serving a life sentence with the possibility of execution. This will be my holiday letter and I wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May 2015 be better than 2014 and for gosh sakes, we hope we can stay out of the hospital. :-) Be strong, and stay out of trouble. Your friend, Les Our friend Les is not guilty. It just wasnt his character. Prayers for Shari Wreyford Bower and Cheryl Bower Smiley
