Today I received a blessing at the Arbys drive through. When I pulled up to the pick-up window I was greeted by the sweet face of young lady I last saw when she was a first grader at Hayes. I had a soft spot for this girl who had much to overcome. She moved after first grade and I tried to keep up with her through the teacher network. I kept this little girl in my prayers and thought of her often. Today I recognized her immediately. After she confirmed her name, I literally squealed with happiness. At first she didnt recognize me but When I told her my name, her eyes lit up and she said, Youre the teacher that used to fix my hair every morning. What more proof do we need as educators that much of what we teach as nothing to do with subject matter or textbooks?
