Today I received my periodic email notification, from an online retailer, that I have used frequently. I might add that I have been very happy with my past buying experiences, with them. However, the ad I received today has me a bit perplexed. It features the Remington Bucket O’ Bullets (1400 cartridges) for $139.99. After adding taxes for my area, I calculated that including them, my purchase price would be about $151.54. This does not include any shipping charges. On September 11, 2013 (I checked my records to be certain of the date) I purchased the same product, from a local retail sporting store for $75.75, including taxes. I spent nearly 20 years in the securities industry; I understand concepts like “supply and demand”, materials’ costs” and “speculation”, and it is still difficult for me to understand how an item could double in price, in just one year. I’m not trying to assess blame, I just find it curious.
