Today I said good bye to a beautiful man who was a mentor to me when Luc and I first moved to Ottawa 14 years ago. He was the kindest and most gentle soul. He was a driven business man with the biggest heart. When I look back on my fondest memories of him, it was his warm smile, his loving embrace and his way of always making you feel like you mattered. What a beautiful legacy he has left behind. We stood outside of the funeral home, in line for 25 minutes before we could get to see him and his family (theres another visitation tonight and his funeral is next week.) The truth of his legacy and his impact on people was evident by the people who were there, shedding tears because he will be so missed. As a business woman, what is your legacy? Is it only to your children? It it to your spouse and partner? What about your impact on your community and the people you serve? That is the footprint you leave behind. Leave a lasting one. Be kind. Loving. Empathetic and caring. Show people that they matter. Valmont, I will always remember you. You were an angel amongst us and you will continue to be. xoxo
