Today, I said goodbye to a dear friend. Jake has been a frequent visitor here for the past 5+ years. It was a chance encounter between his Mum Kim and my husband that brought us together. Kim brought Jake out to meet me when he was 6 months old. We have been close ever since. Jake and his people (yes, they are HIS) are family. I want to take this opportunity to thank Kim and David, for inviting me to spend time with them and Jake today. I know that time is precious. It meant so much to me that I could say goodbye and let him know how much I love him. To see him run over to my jeep to meet me made my day. I have and will shed many tears over this boy.However, those tears will never overshadow the joy Jake brought us whenever we had him here. Or whenever Jake dragged his Mum down the street when he spotted my husband working in the neighborhood. Chris would come home with a big smile on his face and say Guess who I saw today? Jake, I am so sorry that cancer is cutting your life short. You have accomplished so much in your 6 years. You never met a stranger you didnt like, and always seem to know what people around you needed. Somehow, petting that sweet, fuzzy head of yours and looking into those beautiful brown eyes always made things better. Even today... Good boy, Jake. Good boy.
