Today I saw one of the most touching things ever at a death. I was moved to tears and SO proud to be included ---- As a nurse I am used to residents doors being closed and funeral homes coming in the back and exiting quickly so other residents are not disturbed NOT HERE. All the vets line the hallway---holding an American flag stand and salute the deceased soldier as his flag draped stretcher is taken through the hall to the FRONT door---amazing grace is being sung by all of us---the security guard leading the procession announcing the soldiers name and branch of repeatedly during the procession (includes any family, chaplain and many staff and facility administrator) TAPS is played as the body leaves the front door through the hall of flags and loaded in the hearse. What a moving tribute to the soldier whose last tour is done. I cried my eyes out but was moved beyond words. Honor and comradely doesnt begin to cover this.
