Today I spent 7 hours in traffic court. This was over a camera - TopicsExpress

Today I spent 7 hours in traffic court. This was over a camera ticket from 2011! Apparently the ticket was given to me on my Ohio license and sent to my Ohio address. I was told that these things happen and in order to not get any points on my license I decided to go in. What followed blew my mind and gave me an ever so slight insight to what its like to go through life without the blonde haired Caucasian privilege Ive been given! As I was waiting amongst a group of sixty or so people a loud disgruntled Caucasian man walked in. He made his entrance known by announcing he knows his civil rights, etc. At first I laughed as I thought this is going to be interesting! As we were called into court the following words came out of his mouth shouldnt they color coordinate us? Whites before blacks and hispanics last? My jaw hit the floor! I couldnt believe that the deputy let that slide and just told him to sit down. As we were waiting for the judge to enter the man would not let the racist comments go. Again, no one said a word. Not the deputy or anyone else in the court room white or black. After we received our fines we were told to wait in the lobby for our names to be called. One by one we walked out into the lobby and took a seat. Then the man with the mouth on him walked out still being a complete utter ass he looked over at a Cuban man and said how did you get here, a boat? I thought for sure this would get him tossed out by a deputy or tossed on the ground by the man he was speaking to. Nothing happened. As I looked around I noticed the black men in the room all had looks of disgust on their faces. They were fed up but couldnt say a word. Most likely out of fear they would end up in jail! They were scared to speak up. I can only imagine how the situation would have been handled differently if the man making the scene had been black or Mexican. I see a lot of my privileged friends posting about what is going on in certain parts of America right now and how the blacks are looting stores etc. I agree this is unnecessary and completely un called for. Lets not however undermine what our ethnic population has to deal with on a DAILY basis! The reward we get for being white in a society that has historically used skin color as a determination for societal status has not change all that much! I only had a small taste of it today and cannot imagine living it for a lifetime!
