Today I spent the morning at Baylor University discussing hunger and poverty in America as part of the Texas Hunger Initiative Summit. We have to de-mythologize hunger and poverty in America by speaking factually about the issues. We didnt get the country in debt because we helped poor people too much. We’re still coming out of a tough economic time for people, so we need to ensure there is assistance for them to get ahead. Congress must ensure we are helping build out the Infrastructure of Opportunity instead of cutting essential programs. From Ebola to ISIS to Hunger there are a slew of issues that demand that Congress get more involved in governing our country.
