Today I spent the whole day at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) - TopicsExpress

Today I spent the whole day at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) where I spent of the day queuing up outside the entrance of the ‘Rain Room’ for 3 hours under the scorching sun! The ‘Rain Room’ is described as a gallery space where field of falling water is installed in the ceiling that pauses wherever a human body is detected, where visitors control the rain when they step onto the raining area. Using digital technology, Rain Room creates a carefully choreographed downpour, simultaneously encouraging people to become performers on an unexpected stage and creating an intimate atmosphere of contemplation. While I was waiting in the cue, a journalist from the Time Out magazine asked me few questions about the wait, where I told him I was an artist based in New Zealand and that I was a die-hard art lover so I can put up with it since we don’t have projects like the Rain Room in NZ. Ironically enough, the Time Out journalist told me that he just reviewed Francis Upritchard’s current solo exhibition at Anton Kern Gallery in Chelsea so I’m gonna check it out next week. Was it worth the wait when I finally got inside the Rain Room? YES!!
