Today, I submitted my final operating budget as Howard County Executive. It reflects our priorities of our community, and the progress we have made together over the past 8 years. Among some of the highlights included: our commitment to fully funding the request of HCPSS, at $530.4M; funding for additional HCPD positions that will focus on human trafficking and other vice crimes and the creation of a pathway patrol unit to keep our neighborhoods safer; and funding to create a second full-time Mobile Crisis Team within the Mental Health Authority and resources necessary to increase Mental Health First Aid training. These areas make a difference. They make our communities stronger, and it allows Howard County to stay ahead of the curve and serve as a model.
