Today I took my first look at the Mike Brown issue to analyze the whole situation. Mike Brown was a victim of violence and could be viewed as unnecessary aggression. Also, the police decided to release a video showing Mike Brown supposedly committing a strong armed robbery before the fatal shooting that took his life simultaneously with the announcement of the officer’s name that shot Mike Brown. Situations like Mike Brown have been happening for years but now with social media these situations are capturing our attention now more than ever. I life by the philosophy it is better to be proactive than reactive. While I can understand the anger of the people of Ferguson and all others that are upset by these unfortunate circumstances. Let’s take this time to be proactive, rebuild our communities and become better as a whole from this. Personally I believe the infrastructure of our communities need to be examined. It is very important to be educated on what is going on around you. That means attending county or zoning meeting and protesting whenever they are trying to build a liquor store or checking cashing store in your community. Instead push for buildings that our youth can utilize as a resource to better educate themselves. Don’t place the responsibility of educating your kids solely on the public school system. Let’s not allow kids to spend more time on video games than they do reading books about professional development and growth. If you have kids, did you teach your kids how to speak to a police officer or authority figure? Yes officer, mam or sir. Keep your hands where they can see them. A plant is only as good as the planter that planted it.
