Today I urged the House to support my Restore Democracy Act – which calls, in part, for a return to Regular Order in Congress. This means Congress will go back to following its own rules and procedures – giving every bill and amendment a chance to be heard, and every Member a fair chance to participate. In recent years, The People’s House has become an un-democratic institution where bills are brought to the Floor without hearings, a few leaders make major decisions for the rest of us, and legislation advances solely for political posturing and election year politics. That situation must change – and I am determined to lead the charge.
