Today I visited with the hardworking men and women of the ILWU including several workers who have been affected by PMAs decision to stop nighttime unloading of ships. A significant portion of ILWU workers work the night shift and I spoke to one night shift worker who is a single mother supporting three kids. I urge the PMA to reconsider this move and continue working with the federal mediator to reach a fair agreement for the good of our port operations, workers families and our local economy.
