Today I voted against another attempt by the right-wing to take away a woman’s right to make health care choices for herself. This is settled law. It is an issue decided 42 years ago today by the U.S. Supreme Court: women have the right to choose. When politicians, or anyone else, try to trample the rights of an entire gender, or race or any other class of people, the American people have always stood up and defended that right. Moving toward equality is what we should seek, not running for the past, and stealing the right to make decisions for your own body. Americans should be able to make these personal, medical decisions for themselves. I have voted and will keep voting against any proposed law that rolls back the freedom and equality that Americans have protested, fought and died to achieve.
