Today, I voted in favor of advancing the XL Keystone Pipeline. Once again, Democrats in the Senate have tried stalling tactics to delay this important energy security bill. We need to produce more domestically and also spur development in a close ally like Canada to keep prices down, strengthen our national energy security, and create jobs. I am pleased to send this bill to the Senate so our colleagues can take up the mantle from there. Once Congress passes this bill, President Obama will have to explain to the American people why he refuses to sign a bill that would add thousands of American jobs to the economy and secure a stable energy future for our nation. Over a year ago, I sent a letter to Senator Reid asking him to take up this very important legislation. It is a new day with new leadership in the Senate, and I look forward to putting more legislation like this on the President’s desk that builds us a better America.
