Today I was asked could a four year old girl come up to the bridge and meet the Captain. Initially I thought oh no, but said yes and a little girl called Victoria, with a prosthetic leg came on to the bridge with her Mum. I showed her around and let her sit on my chair. She was such a smiler and cheerful little girl I invited them up for arrival into Douglas. Apparently Victoria, had always wanted to meet the Captain of the Ben my Chree and see the tescos trailers. I let her sound the ships whistle as we came in to the harbour and she watched in awe as everything happened whilst we berthed the boat. She was so happy afterwards that she showed me how she could hop, doing so across the bridge. The point of all this is folks that its nice to be nice and even better to make someone less fortunate than yourself happy. It made me feel better about life. I know how easy it is to be nice but think I can forget sometimes too easily. Ste
