Today I was asked to be on the interview panel for a position in my department - not because my opinion is valued, not because I may be working closely with the successful candidate, not because I am a respected part of the team, but because I am a not a white male. Flat out. The manager asked me Laura, would you join us, we need someone who is not a white male on this selection committee. Thanks no thanks to Metro - for your values of teamwork and respect, for your commitment to diversity.
