Today I was at DHS High School observing a sophomore World History - TopicsExpress

Today I was at DHS High School observing a sophomore World History lesson on fascism. The kids were asking questions about how you can have secret police and the teacher pointed to me and said, We have a visitor today who can tell you what it was like to live in Iran where there were secret police everywhere. All eyes were on me and I stood up and talked about living in Iran, SAVAK, and having my not so very nice phone conversation (where I went on a rant about how unfair my dad was) recorded and given to him by SAVAK agents. I explained that if you spoke out against the Shah, you could very well disappear off the streets. And if a family member reported you missing, it was futile because your entire birth record was wiped clear, as though you never existed. The students listened in stunned silence and when I was done, they applauded. Kids today…. they listen, and they want to know. Dont ever think otherwise.
