Today, I was at a birthday party of one of the cutest little girls - TopicsExpress

Today, I was at a birthday party of one of the cutest little girls that I know, over in the East End of Ottumwa. Zoe, the granddaughter of Scotty Inman turned 4, and i was asked to help set up for the party. I always have a good time at these little get togethers, and it helps to keep me reminded that I belong in the mainstream of life, even when i sometimes wish to sit and isolate from everything and everyone...... Scotty and I had to mosey down to the new Dollar General and get scotch tape, so Jennifer, Zoes mother could wrap some presents. It was no big deal, so we walked down and picked it up, and stopped by Caseys General Store on the way back. I was outside waiting for Scotty when I seen this Church bus just sitting there, in the Caseys parking lot. It would of been no big deal, but I noticed that the bus had the name Marion Avenue Baptist Church written on its side, and that it was from Washington, IA. Being a man who is inquisitive, I walked over to the open door of the bus, where the driver sit, eating a sandwich, and another man sit directly behind him, looking through some papers. I said Hello and they greeted me back the same, and then I smugly said Driving all the way over from Washington to pick them up for church these days, eh? thinking that a church in town had just bought this bus and had not painted it yet. Much to my surprise, the man with the papers, whom I found out was the Preacher, smiled and said Yep, we been doing it for 16 years now Now i do not know about you, but I was impressed. Actually I was a little floored! I started talking to him, saying that I was impressed, because the Bible says that we are to take the word out the the highways and hedges, wherever we can, etc. This Preacher had been running back and forth to Ottumwa, and other parts unknown for 16 years, picking people up and bringing them back for Church every Sunday ( he said he had 33 to pick up today).....now thats commitment. I took the brochure he had, and maybe I will catch him some Sunday, and ride over to Washington, IA. for services. I have a feeling it will be worth it Anyone else wanting to check it out, here is the information you need: Marion Ave Baptist Church (319)653-4113
