Today I was at the Lt. Gordon Matty Ambelas Last Alarm at the Hillside Swim Club. It is an Oktoberfest Education fundraiser held to honor Matty Ambelas who tragically lost his life while doing what he did best fight fires and save lives. Matty leaves behind a wife and two beautified daughters. May God bless them forever and God Bless the brave men and women of the FDNY. Also while I was there I took the opportunity to get swabbed to see if I could be a bone marrow donor. Another Firefight named Jimmy Martinez was diagnosed with Multiple myeloma and is now in need of a stem cell transplant but must find a bone marrow match first. I ask all who is willing to please go and get swabbed so you can be placed in the National data bank. You never know but you may save someones life someday like Jimmy Martinez did selflessly countless times.
