Today I was at the (poly)clinic, and was shocked at how the doctor was hastily trying to conclude the consultation in less than 5 minutes by prescribing medication when we had not even identified the root issue (if theres even one). It was clear that he had his personal list of patients to get to and he was simply trying to close my case quickly either by giving me symptomatic medication, and when I refused the medication, by dismissing my concerns as not being severe enough. In the end I told him that I didnt want any medication, and gave up trying to make my case when he then said, Thats it then, you have a good day. It led me to think back to my own coaching sessions and why I dont put a hard limit on timing, because sometimes its more important to sort through your clients needs and concerns as opposed to trying to end sessions quickly and on time. To those of you with health concerns, always keep yourself abreast of your own health status through proper research, self-assessments, and seeking second opinions; dont jump on the first diagnosis especially if it doesnt seem to align with you!
