Today I was chosen to serve as Chairman of the Senate - TopicsExpress

Today I was chosen to serve as Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies, which oversees one-third of all non-defense discretionary spending in the federal government. I believe our top domestic priority should be creating more opportunity for American families and workers. This subcommittee will address ways to improve workforce training, veterans’ training, access to higher education, and other ways to help more people succeed. While almost all of the president’s health care law is paid for by mandatory spending – and falls under the jurisdiction of the Senate Finance Committee – this subcommittee will have a chance to directly address some of the most pressing issues brought forth by ObamaCare, including the administration’s proposed cuts to cancer screenings and immunization programs. I have every reason to expect I’ll stay on both the agriculture and defense appropriations subcommittees, and I’ll look forward to continuing focusing on these areas for Missourians.
