Today I was honored to watch my baby girl compete for the first time against another team with her teammates. What she doesnt realize is that through all her falls and all that felt like failures to her, were really lessons for what is to come in life. That each time she fell off of the beam or when she had to scratch the bars because she was unable to compete in that event, she grew. Shes growing into a beautiful, strong young lady that doesnt need to grow how I grew up. Shes growing up just as I wished I wouldve had the chance. Yet, today, Im able to be able to be there to wipe the tears off of her face when she went to bed tonight and Im able to tell her how proud I am of her for getting back up on the beam or for even showing face. Tell your children how much you love them, for they only know this moment. Hug em too -- because they like those - hugs.
