Today I was invited to see American Sniper. The movie to say the least has drawn a ton of controversy. Not for any substantive reason having anything to do with the movie, the movie lived up to its billing. But because the propensity of Hollywood leftists to let their disdain for our military come to the fore. Beginning in the late 1960s and throughout the Viet Nam War era, through the present, making a positive film about a war or war hero seems to rub them the wrong way. I cant remember complimentary movie about our protectors unless it was some kind of comic fluff trash. Despicable Michael Moore, silly Josh Rogen and most recently the Supreme King of Disrespect Bill Maher. All three of these gentlemen have made careers of being as sacrilegious and disrespectful as possible. I remember in the past our military was the most respected sector of our society and it still is. Surprisingly so considering the image our entertainment industry, media and our left leaning politicians paint of them at every turn. They get away with it now days, it occurs to me because since the end of the military draft Ive read that no more than 1% of our population serve. That means 99% of our families have little to no 1st hand knowledge of what our warriors and their families suffer in service to our country. With all the positives of an all volunteer military, I wonder if we could eliminate one of the greatest injustices concerning the military, the ignorance and lack of understanding members of the services have to put up with from those they serve, if we brought the draft back. I know...a moment of madness! Dont gloat, everyone has one in em. Go figure.
