Today I was telling a class of economically inactive grade 5 students the meaning of illiterate, in their English class. I also told them that if any or both of their parents are illiterate it doesnt mean that they or anyone else can make fun of them. That all illiterate people are worthy of respect and then all of a sudden a little girl told me in front of the entire class that her dad makes fun of her mum because shes illiterate. And then I told her to help her mum read and write. And she said that she already does that regardless of her mothers strict work routine which includes her working full time as a house-help. And I was thinking, with all this shit currently happening in Pakistan, there are so many good things happening here as well. Esp. inside the homes where a child becomes the shield for a parent who sometimes has no rights. #alhamdulilahMoments #SorryForThisNovel
