Today I was very pleased to nominate the Hon. Nanaia Mahutas for the Labour Party leadership contest. Nanaia belongs to the group of the new breed of NZ politicians whose leadership style resonates with me personally and Im confident will resonate with many Labour Party members. She is highly intelligent and her Te Reo and cultural literacy gives her a much broader world view perspective that is critical in making decisions in a complex and diverse environment. She conducts herself with quite dignity and mana. Her approach is inclusive, open and transparent and I rate her as someone with huge integrity and strong labour values. She is someone that I believe walks the talk and is driven by the dreams and aspirations of our diverse kiwi communities. I have no hesitation in commending for your support the Hon Nanaia Mahuta to our Labour Party membership for your No. 1 preference vote. I will continue to enter into discussions with other leadership contenders in order to determine and recommend to you who we could support as 2nd, 3rd, and 4th preference candidates. Kia Kaha
