Today, I watched a movie called The Perks of Being a Wallflower. This movie put into perspective the things that we hide from each other just because we’re afraid of how others will react. Every day we look at people and call them crazy or say that they are attention seekers, but seldom do we think that something may have happened to them and that has made them who they are. We make fun and say cruel things about them, we even go so far as to make their world an even worse hell than what they have already been through. Each and every one of us have secrets that we would rather hide from others, including our closest friends or one true love, just to make sure that we never feel the shame that it brings. I have plenty of secrets that I have kept hidden just because I would rather feel the pain of keeping it in than risk telling someone that I think is a friend and having it used against me. All too often we believe that keeping this secret is better than telling, and we could never be more wrong. Sometimes, we just need to wait until the right person comes along that we can share it with, but even then, we shrug this off and decide that not even they deserve to know. This, I know, is the epitome of distrust. For if we cannot trust the one person we love, who will we trust? I have few people that I can trust, and I must say that, just like in the movie, I never did trust my father or anyone else. I just what everyone to think on this…If we go through something that is so horrible and shameful we do not even attempt to tell our parents, then why should we ever trust anyone else? Why should we even bother to look at our friends and give them the whole truth?
