Today I went to pay my respects to a great friend and colleague - TopicsExpress

Today I went to pay my respects to a great friend and colleague who lost his daughter this past week. Knowing all too well the utter despair and numb feeling to be where this family is made me wonder what words I could offer to him. There really are no words that penetrate far enough to register so my thought was to just tell him we love them and give him a hug. When I made my way to the front I kneeled, said a prayer and turned to find my longtime fellow operator. He spotted me and we shook hands. I hugged him and just as I went to speak he looks at me and says You ok, I know this must bring back some bad memories for you. I was stunned for a second or so. This man is saying goodbye to the physical life of his beautiful daughter on the worst day of his life and he asks if I am ok. And I was thinking of how to console him. Where does that kind of strength come from? Only a person of faith and true character could set aside their own grief, even for a few seconds, to let a friend know they care and remember! Chris Guillotte you taught me something today. My family prays for your wonderful, loving family and for all the lives that Erin touched.
