Today I went to the Hurley Democratic Committee’s “Meet and Greet” at the Reservoir Inn. It was attended by about 25 people, and I got a chance to say a few words about Sustainable Hurley, our meeting, and our plans for bringing pressure on the Town board to amend the zoning code to prohibit heavy industry like fracking. I met Elisa Ball, from NY State Senator Tkaczyk’s Kingston office who will ask her to write to the Supervisor about our call for a fracking ban. I managed to collect 18 signatures for the petition. Two were from people who had also signed up on line, and I asked them to sign again, feeling it will be stronger to have more names on the printed petitions. One person took three forms and will try to get signatures. The drive has started!
