Today I will remember a friend. It does not seem a whole year - TopicsExpress

Today I will remember a friend. It does not seem a whole year since we lost Phillip from our world, yet it seems also a lifetime. Time is a funny thing. But love and friendship do not rely in time alone to be present. They do not even rely on the physical presence of a person for us to know they exist. Philip and I shared the same sorts of ways of thinking, the love of writing and metaphors and the hope in a God everlasting. I could regret that I never met him face to face, and in a way I do, but I more than this, I remember him as a great friend, a mentor to many and an example to all that life could be lived with purpose and determination no matter the circumstance. I do not see that Phillip ever lost his battle, for he he lived with great dignity and love. When we lost him from our world he entered the gates of Heaven and I have no doubt was received with a host of angels celebrating the beauty that he created on this earth, changes in peoples lives that will remain forever, even as those lives change the next generation. This is not a loss for Phillip. That we miss so much in the physical is great loss for us, so we remember to tap into the parts of him that he changed, that he touched, and we rejoice and give thanks that he is still by our sides and cheering loudly from heavens gates. Phillip was a doer - he wanted to make the world a little better. Today, what will you do to remember him. What will you do to make this world a better place? Create a fundraiser for Save the Day? Sign up on the registry? Make a call to a friend who is unwell? Send a card to someone who is struggling? The choice is yours, dont worry about the big or small....size does not matter, it is the act of goodness, kindness, generosity...that is what counts. Today, in honour of Phillip, make this world of ours a better place to be.
