Today, I wore a blue dress. It wasnt because I was feeling like being pretty or dressed up. It was merely to take a silent stand on something that is so close to my heart and a cause that I will continue to fight for...BULLYING. School wasnt a safe place for me. Each day, I went, prepared to hear negative comments from many classmates. It wrecked me to hear my peers call me names, comment on my skin or my weight. Everyday of Jr. High, I went home and was upset being called names like Frosted Flakes or Tubby Tuba I sat alone in the cafeteria at lunch. It was nothing that I did wrong, it was simply because of who I was. People didnt like me because my skin wasnt formed properly, or that I overweight, or that I didnt wear the right clothes...and they made sure I was treated as an outcast. TODAY...I go to MIDDLE SCHOOL every day. I share kindness. I listen to students. I try to show everyone respect and expect (and sometimes demand) the same from the students. What may have impacted me negatively in the past is the very thing that I am most passionate about. We can change this. CHOOSE RESPECT. CHOOSE to stand up to bullying.
