Today I would like everyone to spare a thought for LCpl Mathew - TopicsExpress

Today I would like everyone to spare a thought for LCpl Mathew Ford that was killed in action on the 15th of January 2007 (apologies for the delay). Mathew who I knew personally was a top bloke, great Royal Marine and above all else a Brother in Arms. What followed the offensive operation in southern Helmand, Afghanistan was a truly remarkable show of Commando Spirit and comradeship which make us all what we are serving or not. The rescue mission was dubbed flight of the phoenix whereby 4 guys (3 Royal Marines and 1 Royal Engineer) strapped themselves to the apache helicopter and retrieved Mathew. Throughout training and life in the Corps it is drilled into you that you will look after each other and that no man will ever be left behind. Gone But Never Forgotten. May the actions of the lads on that day be testament to the Brotherhood. #justiceformarineA The video below is footage of the events above which again show that we were not sent in to Afghanistan to hand out flowers.... https://youtube/watch?v=V7JrcSmgwuY
