Today I would like to pay tribute to all of the random acts of kindness that moved mountains when the world was bigger then I could handle. I mastered the art of shutting the world out. I told everyone I was fine and used cancer as an excuse to get out of any and every event. I had days where the darkness was way stronger then the light…and then I would have a knock at the door. It would be our lawyer…he just stopped by to bring me flowers or cookies or just to say hello. The light just got a little brighter. One day I was driving to work and got a flat tire, not a big deal, but add it to the pile of crap I was already dealing with and it was the straw that broke the camels back. I had a coworker, Ed Finneran go out in really bad weather and change my tire for me. Again the light was a little brighter. There are all the people who held a door for me, let me merge in front of them on a busy street, complimented me when I felt my ugliest, or a phone call from a long lost friend who had just heard of my crazy life and called to say hello. All of these are small acts by themselves but to me in this beaten up state I clung to them. They broke up a long string of bad days and gave me what I could consider to be a good day. You never know how a small act of kindness for a stranger could impact them…
