Today Im finding and transcribing old newspaper articles from the early days of Australia that mention Freestone, the town Im writing a book about. I love this 1902 description of an upcoming evening entertainment: We would like to give our Freestone friends a final reminder of the dramatic treat in store for them this evening, when the members of the C.Y.M.S. Dramatic Club will stage the powerful Australian bush drama Stuck Up in the Freestone School of Arts. No other Australian play possesses so many startling and sensational scenes and incidents, such pretty and realistic tableaux, so much side-splitting, mirth-provoking humour and fun, and so much pathos as this entertaining stage story of the early days. Phew! Thats one humdinger of a play! :-)
