Today Im signing up to Plusnet. Finally. I cannot wait to be rid of TalkTalk and their pathetic excuse for a service. As a final kick in the teeth TalkTalk have kept a nasty little secret up their sleeve: Since our case was escalated TalkTalk have been unable to improve our speeds, if anything the speeds have gone down. After doing a little bit of reading and some in depth tests I found out about something called an IP Profile, this is where the capability of your connection is decided and limited slightly below the maximum speed capable to stop data being wasted. It is also where companies like TalkTalk can throttle back your speeds. This should not be set to the same value each time you connect, it is likely to vary. So, whilst TalkTalk allegedly have been battling to improve our speeds, theyve consistently been throttling back our connection by setting our IP Profile at 1.25 Mbps over the past few weeks. That means whilst our connection can be capable of downloading at 2 Mbps, we will never get above 1.25 Mbps as TalkTalk have limited our connection to that speed. A hateful excuse for a company.
