Today, Jesus tells us that we must forgive not seven but seventy-seven times. Jesus isnt telling us that we must let whatever happened pass without discussion or closure. What he is telling us is that we must always be open to dialogue and that we must not close our hearts to reconciliation. Today, we are reminded that we can only find true healing and happiness when we learn to deal with hurt and injustice compassionately and with grace. It is only when we learn to forgive others that we can ourselves can accept forgiveness. Today, we ask for the grace to forgive: to face difficult and painful situations with courage and understanding, to be able to dialogue and let go of our anger and pain.
