Today,,,,June 13, 2013....is the 48th anniversary of my Amateur Radio License...I have been continuously licensed for 48 years as a General Class Operator since this date in 1965....it has led me down many roads and adventures....I was heavily involved in emergency communications from Hurricane Camille in 1969...I received a personal Letter of Commendation from President Reagan in 1983 for my part in relaying communications from St George Medical School in GRENADA to the U.S. Navy and the Special Forces...and of course....the horrible Toccoa Falls Dambreak and Flood of Nov 6, 1977...where 39 people were drowned and crushed to death by the wall of water....we provided commo for the Red Cross and GA Civil Defense that day by Amateur Radio....never forget....and of course....how can we ever forget Palm Sunday Tornadoes of 27 March 1994....when hams provided back up commo for Lumpkin County CD....a day that will live forever in the hearts of Lumpkin Countians....I was a part of all that with my radios...
